10th Anniversary Club Celebrations
The 10th Anniversary celebrations for the Club were well attended by club members - old and new,
and invited guests from other clubs. The day started with a Mystery Ride
departing from Kurri with approx. 10 bikes. The ride was led appropriately by our President,
well at least the very start of it, but the lead was soon handed over to John.
The trek for the merry band of riders (and 1 brave pillion) was out to Wollombi, Bumble Hill
and out to Myuna Bay. Not all who started finished, did they John? Snapped footpeg - sure!
Di Scaysbrook, DOCNSW arrived with another lady on a very shiny silver Jap twin, but unfortunately
the friend left prior to the commencement of the festivities. They were soon joined by
Scott Priestly from GRO Northern Stars. Howard Scaysbrook joined the fellas on the ride.
Aunty Mal and friend Jane, of DOCNSW joined the BBQ late - better late than not all.
Missing from the start was the Admiral who was busy with the BBQ. The Admiral did a remarkable
job on the Gosford Motorcycle Club loaned BBQ. The food was prepared by Rebecca Hitchcock and
Dellie Schulz (and co), whilst Christine and Poppy Schulz fiddled with the hot water urn
and generator.
Lunch was choice of sausages and rissoles, fried onions between bread with dessert being Choc
Cake (and I can't believe that you could eat a whole slab of cake either!) or Carrot Cake to
celebrate the Club's birthday. It was great that the Grabham family turned up and the
kids enjoyed themselves!
Steve Craven did the raffle draw of prizes donated by Ducati Australia for the occasion,
but next time can we please ensure that Scott Priestly DOESN'T get raffle tickets as he won
2 prizes. Jim O'Neill continues to add his Ducati wardrobe of clothing! Dave Woolford is now
the proud owner of a leather trimmed wool vest and Steve Craven Ducati goggles with interchangeable
coloured lens. John Staples won a t-shirt which either he has to shrink for or his kids will grow into!
Christine launched this year's club sweatshirts with a special run being produced especially for the day.
The ladies is a front zip up red with navy trim fleecy, and the men's are a navy with a zip neck.
Decorated with the club logo which indicates the 10th anniversary also. So if you haven't got yours yet,
orders need to be placed with Christine now.
All in all, it was a great day on the shores of Lake Macquarie shared with family and friends,
old and new. Ducatis old and new! Between NDDOC, DOCNSW and GRO it is the start of many more happy shared
motorcycling moments.
Thanks to:
- Steven Craven & John Staples for their combined ride leading skills
- Phil ¨The Admiral¨ and Rebecca Hitchcock - for their BBQ expertise
- Gosford Motorcycle Club - for their BBQ
- Christine Craven, Steve & Dellie Schulz - for assisting in the setup
- Me - for organizing it and doing the shopping
To all those who couldn't make it for whatever reason, you missed out on a good fun day!
Hope to see you at the next one!
